GREAT EVENTS HAPPEN AT EL CORTEZ!

Opened on Thanksgiving Day 1927 and nestled atop San Diego ‘s Cortez Hill stands the historic El Cortez. The carefully restored landmark is once again hosting San Diego ‘s finest events. In one of the most exquisitely designed rooms in the state of California, renowned Events Director Kathi Skillman hosts a variety of special events.

Since 1927 Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, William Jefferson Clinton and Barack Obama have all entertained in the 24k Don Room. Influential events happen daily in the Don Room at El Cortez such as San Diego Magazine’s “50 People to watch”, as well as numerous sports team dinners, fundraising events, corporate functions, weddings, television shows and award winning motion pictures.

The Don Room and Terrace at El Cortez accommodates from 20 to 500 persons in an ambiance that will be especially memorable. The outdoor Terrace with “urban” fireplace is the perfect spot for guests to mingle over a cocktail.  Seasoned party goers find delight in our mild San Diego weather as they chat under the stars or within a cozy canopy set in front of the fireplace and later join in the 24k Don Room to dance the night away!
